EVS or otherwise electronic entry systems solve issues of the authorization of persons to enter the building (audio / video phones, access card reader) and a record attendance, together with the granting of access rights, access control systems.

Identification takes place either by entering a code on a contact keypad or contact or contactless identification media. The media have different designs; they could be key holders with an identification chip, proximity cards, pendants, bracelets and so on. A special group of access systems are those that recognize users by including biometric data in advance (eg. fingerprints). The heart of the access systems are thus keypads or card readers, that are capable of operating alone or in a network.
